We're going to do is remove the packing. If you're lucky you'll be able to pull it out by hand if the pumps been put together quite a while you may have to use a packing extractor. This is a packing extractor you insert the packing extractor inside.

The packing then tightens down on this bolt right here it expands the collet and then just pull up on the slide hammer it slips it right out back t screw back out of the collet and then slips the backing off may be difficult especially dealing with new packing.

Packing is in real good shape to reinstall the packing. We'll use a packing insertion tool and wd-40 for lubrication just simply spray a little in there spray the surface of your packing take the black ferrule and fit it down into the head.

First, you install your head ring that's your black hard plastic piece it'll have a flat side and a convex side the rounded side or convex side goes up. The next piece you're going to install is your brown fiber packing again shoot a little wd-40 inside.

That black ferrule packing guide starts your packing in there with the rounded side up put your red plunger in there and press down packing is now installed. The next piece that goes in there is your reis top ring brown or black it has a rounded top and an open bottom it goes in to fit over the top of the brown piece with the rounded section.
