Developing Zom Nom Defense: Adding Attack Effects and Enhancing Gameplay | Game Dev with Godot /ep67

In this video, I continue developing 'Zom Nom Defense,' our zombie-themed tower defense game built in Godot. Today, I focused on tackling some exciting gameplay features and adjustments, engaging with both bugs and creative additions to enhance the experience for players. This project is part of my journey to refine my game development skills with Godot, creating progressively complex mechanics and better game design. Here's what we worked on in this session:

- **Attack Enhancements**: Explored creating attack effects––including sound effects and visual upgrades––for player interactions with zombies, such as damage feedback and cooldown cursors.
- **Level Scalability**: Discussed ideas for varied level progression, adding terrain, and increasing zombie spawn complexity.
- **Implementation for Sound Effects**: Added audio buses for music and sound effects, set up configurations for better game environment audio, and brainstormed creative ways to source CC0 sound assets.
- **Player Feedback**: Improved visuals and mechanics for attack interactions including subtle effects when hitting zombies, ensuring the gameplay feels more polished.

Alongside this, I navigated UI refinements, tweaked project settings, and set the groundwork for more complex enemy behaviors, additional survivors to protect, and strategic level setups.
