These events allow me to track ROAS and create Lookalike Audiences.

Lookalike Audiences (LaL) are the backbone of scaling any campaign. Snapchat’s LaL perform very well, however many people don’t know how to unlock them.

You have 2️⃣ ways of creating a lookalike audience. Upload a customer list or use a seed audience.

Let’s focus on seed audiences. In order for a seed audience to appear in your Audience tab, you need to fire 100 events per week.

❓Which event should you use? I like to use the Purchase event as a lead-gen “conversion” because it allows for custom parameters like 'currency':'USD', 'price':30,'transaction_id':'111'.

This allows me to track ROAS and manually bid for purchase events.

Your seed audience is now in the Assets - Audiences tab. Snapchat gives three types of LaL – Similarity, Balance and Reach. The number of users and their affinity changes based on which you choose.

The obvious answer is to test all 3 types of LAL, however I’ll give you a pro tip. 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗢𝗜 𝟵𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗟.

‼️I will ALWAYS favor reach LaL in the beginning as I want my audiences to be as diverse as possible. Assigning too much budget to a similarity LaL can cause your audiences to get saturated very quick.

A good rule of thumb is to wait for at least 200 conversions before you start using Similarity and Balance LaL.

LaL can be layered with Snapchat’s demographic and interest information. Audiences with sizes of 8-12 million tend to do very well for me regardless of campaign.

Always keep running ad sets with interests and broad targeting. This will ensure your lookalike audiences stay fresh.
