Research-Based Solutions for White Mold in Soybeans -- Damon Smith

Damon Smith, Associate Professor of Field Crops Pathology and Faculty Director of the Nutrient and Pest Management Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, shares his research on control options for managing white mold ( also known as Sclerotinia stem rot or SSR) in soybeans. Cultural practices, such as the use of resistant soybean varieties, modification of row spacing and ideal plant populations, are important techniques that help limit the spread of white mold. Strategies for using fungicide and how to determine the best spray timing using the Sporecaster app are explained. This app is now available for free to help improve mold management in soybeans.
