Why is the United States facing so many storms at the same time these days?

I had the chance to speak to George Friedman about his new book: "The Storm Before the Calm, America's Discord, the Coming Crisis of the 2020's, and the Triumph Beyond." In the book, Friedman takes a fascinating eagle's eye view on American history, allowing us to analyze the current moment with more clarity. Friedman purports that the current storm the United States is witnessing on several fronts is part of the regular rhythm of American history.

George Friedman is a geopolitical forecaster who founded the geopolitical intelligence platform Statfor based in Austin, Texas in 1996. Friedman was Stratfor's chairman until 2015. He then founded Geopolitical Futures, a publication dedicated to predicting the future of the international system.
