How can overprotection contribute to the fear of commitment? - Parenting Tips - Avoidant attachment

Many people confuse providing love with being overbearing and overprotective. Coldness and overprotectiveness are both sides of the same coin: fear, which is then passed down to the next generation.
My recommendations are to take responsibility for your own fear of seeing your child suffering and to step into the role of being a safe environment for your kids to be fully themselves. This means, catering to all of their needs, not just that of closeness, but also of autonomy and exploration, of being understood and accepted unconditionally, of expressing themselves emotionally, of falling down and standing up again… Allow them to make their own experience and live their lives the best way they can! Be a guide, but don’t go beyond the boundaries of your children.

Observe what they really need holistically, honoring their whole being, and getting your fear out of the equation. Only then will they develop the confidence that it takes to go through pain without it being fatal and to get the best out of life!
