052326 MULTIPLE AGENCIES RESPOND TO ACTIVE SHOOTER IN EAST COUNTY

Saturday afternoon, Montgomery Coutny 911 operators began getting calls for someone shot in the head on Nottingham in the Kings Colony Subdivision of East Montgomery County. Units responded and, as they arrived, learned a 60-year-old male was continuing to fire a long gun. Deputies backed off and waited for reinforcements. DPS responded with multiple units along with Precinct 4, Patton Village, Roman Forest, Precinct 3, Fire Marshal's Office, Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management,  Splendora Police, and Liberty County units. SWAT was activated, and after fighting, heavy rain arrived on the scene. The 60-year-old male, believed to have done the shooting, came out and surrendered. He and a 17-year-old were transported to the hospital for injuries. At least four others were shot at but not believed to have been hit. Sheriff Doolittle and his Command Staff responded to the scene along with District Attorney Mike Holley. Sheriff Doolittle said that at this time, the males have been detained and are not yet officially in custody pending further investigation.
