ISTANBUL IN LOCKDOWN 🇹🇷 | When the largest city in Turkey shuts down on the weekend 2021

DISCLAIMER: Please note, this video is not us boasting that we can walk around and explore whilst others sit at home, far from it. We feel that, these sorts of events we have been seeing around the world over the past year or so, are something none of us will potentially ever see again in our lifetimes. Megacities and Countries coming to a complete stand still was unheard of in peacetime, but this is 2021, and to document it on video will give us ALL the chance in 5/10/50 years time to look back on this extraordinary time in all of our lives ❤️

In late 2020, the Turkish government passed a law that everywhere in Turkey was to shut down on a weekend for the foreseeable future. These 'weekend lockdowns' meant Turkish citizens and permanent residents (not working in the tourist or essential service industries) had to stay at home apart from the get food or a few other things. As a tourist in Turkey however, this law did not affect you, and restaurants, museums, ticket offices etc remained open. This is our experience of what Istanbul was like during the lockdown.
