Why has the CCP gone out of its way to try to cancel Shen Yun, a New York-based performing arts company?
“I think it really comes down to mind control,” says Shen Yun conductor Ying Chen.
“For thousands of years, Chinese culture has been very spiritual under the strong influence of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism. However, when the Communist Party took power in 1949, they started to eradicate all of these belief systems so that they can instill Marxism into people's minds.”
“We have refused to be subjugated [by] their rules…And what we play on stage reflects our divine culture, the very culture that they have worked so hard to eradicate.”
