The session will introduce planners to tools and strategies in the growing area of community and regional food planning. Samina Raja of the State University of New York -- Buffalo and Allison Hastings of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission will describe the components of a healthy food system, highlighting the problems inherent in contemporary food systems in the United States and the profession's role in building sustainable systems. The session will conclude with a review of best practices from around the country. Sponsored by the APA-New Jersey chapter.
