This Spider Is Running on Water 🕷️🌊

Some spiders are able to do something that looks almost impossible: run directly across the surface of water without sinking. This baby tarantula uses tiny water repellent hairs on its legs to stay above the surface while moving at surprising speed.

Those microscopic hairs trap pockets of air and prevent water from sticking to the spider’s body. Combined with the natural surface tension of water, the spider becomes light enough to briefly sprint across the top almost like it’s skating.

For young tarantulas especially, this ability can be extremely useful for escaping predators or crossing flooded areas in tropical environments where heavy rain is common.

What makes the moment look so strange is how fast and effortless it seems. One second it’s standing at the edge, and the next a fuzzy little spider is casually running across water like physics stopped applying to it. 🕷️🌊
