In this video, we are counting down the top 10 facts about the Boston Terriers that you might not know.
A Quick Overview:
[Group: Non-Sporting Group]
Weight: 12-25 pounds
Height: 15-17 inches
Life Expectancy: 11-13 years
Regardless of their rumbustious look, a Boston Terrier is a lover, not a fighter. This good-looking dog always looks dapper in its ornamental tuxedo fur with those large gorgeous eyes and a wide grin.
Famous for their name as American Gentleman, the Boston Terrier is smart, lively and friendly with a calm, even temperament. Bostons can, yet, be stalwart at times, so perseverance and uniformity are definite musts when training them.
The Boston Terrier puppies need early socialization, like every other dog. They need to be exposed to a number of people, sounds, sights and experiences — when they're young puppies. It helps confirm that your Boston puppy grows up to be a mature dog.
Boston Terriers are usually healthy, however, like all other dog breeds, they're likely to catch certain health problems like corneal ulcers, cataracts, cherry eye, deafness, brain tumors, and allergies. Not all Bostons will suffer from any or all of these infections, nevertheless, it's important to be conscious of such problems if you're thinking of buying/adopting this breed.
Boston Terriers are outgoing and excited about everything they do. These Native American breeds get along very well with children, other pets and pretty much everyone they come across. Generally speaking, they are smooth coated, compactly built, extremely intelligent, short-headed lively little companion dogs.
Their good manners have also earned them the nickname “The American Gentlemen.”
