In this first phase of an extensive interview with Christopher Priest, multiple award winning SF, Slipstream and Literary Fiction author (most famous for 'The Prestige',Winner of the World Fantasy Award & James Tait Black Memorial Award, filmed by Christopher Nolan), Steve Andrews and CP discuss his emergence as a writer from the British New Wave SF scene - with anecdotes about fellow writers Michael Moorcock ('My oldest friend...'), M John Harrison, Keith Roberts, Thomas M Disch and John Sladek - and his work up to his breakthrough into the British literary mainstream with 1981's 'The Affirmation'.
