This video is about Fever - When should you take that child with a fever to your doctor or urgent care/ emergency:
1. Age under 2 - 3 months old
2. Very "out of it" even with the fever down they are listless, not having sharp eye contact
3. If over age 2 years and they cannot bend the head forward touching chin to chest
4. Inconsolable and despite getting the fever down they are still very ill looking
5. Petechial rash (typically bacterial - like what you see with meningococcal infection)
- a non-blanching pink or purple rash
6. Child cannot or will not swallow their own saliva (drooling)
If over 2 - 3 months age and they look relatively well, even if high fever, it's not likely an emergency.
