Arteza Colored Pencils vs Prismacolor + Arteza Toned Gray | Unboxing and Product Review | 2019

The nice people at Arteza sent me some of their expert color pencils and toned gray paper to review. I drew a multicolor galaxy Pikachu using the pencils.

My initial impression for the Arteza expert color pencils was that the pigments were very vibrant but I found them harder to blend. After getting used to them I did find it easier but overall Prismacolor pencils are still much easier to blend.

They are great quality at a low price, I didn't experience any lead breaking issues like I do with prismacolors but their max set is 72 whereas prismacolor you can get 150 colors. it didn't cause me any issues with this drawing but it's always nicer to have more color variations.

In summary I will not be replacing my prismacolor pencils with these but will definitely use them in addition to the prismas. I would recommend these for beginners who are on a budget but if you can afford the equivalent prismaoclors then I would get them if you can put up with the quality issues.

The paper I found nice to use, it doesn't have as much tooth or texture as my normal strathmore toned tan paper but I still enjoyed using it and it is much cheaper!
