VAT Ruling | SARS vows to monitor compliance

SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter says the Western Cape High Court ruling on the VAT has brought some certainty on the administration of the VAT Act. SARS has assured consumers that vendors have no legal basis to implement the higher rate vowing to monitor compliance. The Western Cape High Court issued a court order suspending the planned 0,5% Value Added Tax increase that was set to take effect on 1 May 2025 in a case brought by the DA and EFF. SARS says it's back to the drawing board.
