Ape Escape 2 - Episode 5: Sun, Surf, and Landmine Girls
In today's episode of the "Ape Escape 2" playthrough, we catch all of the monkeys that are currently available to us in "The Blue Baboon" and "Enter the Monkey", as well as defeat Pink Monkey.
One thing that I've always found interesting is that among Specter's higher-ranked monkeys, Pink Monkey's the only one that uses psychic powers similar to his own. So based on that, I have two theories- either there's a positive correlation between the mental instability of a Peak Point Helmet's wearer and how powerful they become, or Specter deliberately gives his minions less effective Peak Point Helmets in order to prevent any potential rivals from challenging him, but Pink Monkey, being the demented landmine girl that she is, threatened him into giving her one of his personal spares.
As funny as the idea of Specter, this cunning, ruthless ape with powerful psychic powers and an army of loyal minions at his beck and call, being strongarmed into enhancing the abilities of his yandere admirer who both annoys and terrifies him is, I personally find myself leaning towards the former. After all, with the exception of his brainwashing ability in the first game, we've only seen Specter really using his psychic powers when he's on the brink of a mental breakdown due to his plans falling apart. Likewise, Pink Monkey's own powers only manifest when she believes that the protagonist has a personal vendetta against her and/or she goes full-on yandere.
