The 'MISSING MAN' SALUTE explained (NDF)
The 'MISSING MAN' salute generally consists of 8 jet fighters; 1 jet leading followed by 7 other jets in an arrowhead shape. The 7 jets following the leading jet display the national colors which are blue, green, gold, and red, symbolizing the nation. The leading jet does not display any color, as at some point It lifts slightly higher than the following jets and breaks off to the right. The breaking off of the leading jet symbolizes the loss of a leader (in this case the CIC). The 7 jets proceeding in the same direction symbolizes that the nation needs to proceed forward, despite the loss of a leader.
