The End of an Era... Farewell Stardust (2020-2026) 💔

Our beautiful Stardust sadly passed away on 5th June 2026 at the age of 5 years, 10 months and 3 days. Born on 2nd August 2020, we had hoped she would reach her sixth birthday and beyond, but it was not to be. As one of the most popular piggies of Bucks Guinea Pig Talks, appearing in countless videos, family updates, Q&As, livestreams and outdoor adventures over the years, Stardust will be hugely missed.

This passing was a big shock to us all, it wasn’t obvious that it was coming and her departure was pretty fast, no lingering for days, just seemed like she had lived her life and decided her moment. I took two videos of her and took 2 photos just 3 hours before she started to leave us, it was that fast – she totally left us on her terms.

To us she was a pet, much loved and a steady feature of our evolving group of Guinea Pigs. She was a huge part of our family and a familiar face to so many of you who have followed Bucks Guinea Pig Talks over the years. Whether she was enjoying time on the grass, appearing in our livestreams, starring in Question & Answer videos, or simply being her calm and gentle self, she seemed to touch the hearts of thousands of viewers. Likewise, she was also very popular at the ‘in person’ show we did over the years.

She leaves behind an incredible legacy through her family and through the memories she helped create. Looking back through the photos and videos, we are reminded just how fortunate we were to share nearly six wonderful years with her. The sheer volume of photos and videos is immense.
She had a life that involved 3 superb litters of youngsters, she was part of our first litter born during the Covid lockdown and was a super character. If anything she seemed to prefer our company to the other Guinea Pigs at times, she was fabulously photogenic and easy to film, no drama, always comfortable and calm. Stardust was also the first of our Guinea Pigs to become a Great Great Great Grandmother – we’re sure that Midnight will miss her, they got on really well.

Moondust was with Stardust at the time of passing, but when I could see that things were sadly going downhill, I did briefly put Xenocrates (Stardust’s half-sister) into the same cage for them to see each other for the last time. Stardust lifted her chin up and rested it on the back of Xenocrates – it was a very humbling moment to see.

Losing a pet is never easy. They become part of our daily routines, our happiest moments and our family story. The silence they leave behind can feel enormous, especially right now.

This video is our goodbye to Stardust- as she completes her final chapter. A chance to celebrate her life, remember the joy she brought us, and thank her for everything she gave.

You will never be forgotten Stardust. Rest easy beautiful Guinea Pig.
