Off-duty pilot accused of trying to crash plane to appear in federal court

Joseph Emerson, a pilot from Pleasant Hill, will appear in federal court Thursday afternoon facing a charge of interfering with a flight crew and attendants. Emerson allegedly tried to disable a plane's engines and later told investigators that he had been having a mental health emergency.
