A report from the UN reveals that drylands, including vast areas of desert, cover 41.3% of Earth’s total land area. This means almost half of the earth’s surface is not suitable for growing crops! As a big country, China covers a massive land collection but in the ’70s China began to worry about their desert's expanding problem and they started the battle to tame the desert. Fast forward to the 2nd decade of 2000, they have successfully pushed back the deserts, increasing the farmlands.
