DANGER ASBESTOS, NO TRESPASSING - Abandoned WW2 Bunker

Back in WW2, the local rail company decided that they needed an underground control bunker in order to maintain control over the rail network in the event that the above ground facilities where destroyed by enemy air raids.

Taking advantage of a natural cave system, they set about building this control bunker. Built to house 30 staff, they also had connections with the post office to help ensure mail delivery. The railway manager lived close by and had a direct line to the bunker.

This bunker remained operational until the 1960's when it was closed. Now it’s just full of broken asbestos and has been left abandoned. Join us as we take a look around!
