What is HTML?

Before you can build a beautiful website, you need to understand the foundation beneath it — and that foundation is HTML. But what exactly is HTML, and why does every website in the world depend on it?
When you open any website — Facebook, YouTube, or even Google — what you’re really seeing first is HTML.
It’s like the skeleton of a human body — without it, the rest can’t stand.
HTML stands for “HyperText Markup Language.” Don’t worry, that sounds complicated, but it simply means “the language that structures web pages.”

With HTML, you tell the browser:
“This is a title,”
“This is a paragraph,”
“This is an image,”

Every tag has meaning. The browser reads these tags and knows how to show your page.

But HTML alone isn’t everything.
If HTML is the skeleton, then CSS is the skin and clothes — it makes things beautiful.
And JavaScript? That’s like the brain — it makes your site move, react, and feel alive.

So if you’re just starting as a self-taught coder, HTML is the very first language you should learn.
It’s simple, visual, and gives you the feeling of building something real with your own hands.

Every great developer starts from small steps — typing their first html tag.
So open your code editor today, create your first webpage, and see your idea come alive.
