I found an 800-year-old dessert that beats Cheesecake (Queijadas de Sintra)

These Portuguese Cheese Tarts, also known as Queijadas de Sintra, are an ancient cheese tart recipe from the 13th century. A unique alternative to traditional cheesecake.

In this version, I tried to keep the soul of the original while adapting it to the way we cook today: smaller quantities, a more practical method, and a filling that stays rich, fragrant, and beautifully balanced.

The result is a delicate tart with very thin pastry and a creamy filling made with ricotta, cream cheese, cinnamon, coconut, almond flour, and lemon zest. They are even better after a few hours, and somehow even better the next day.
