The midpoint hierarchy and dynamics on a de Casteljau Bezier polygon | Alg Calc and dCB Curves 10

We look at the particularly important value of t=1/2 for a de Casteljau Bezier curve and the associated hierarchy of secondary points used to construct the locus at that value. The case of the quartic, or degree four curve is used as an example.

And we introduce the idea of a discrete particle motion on the dCB control points, with attendent velocity, acceleration, jerk and snap --- higher analogs of differences/derivatives for a discrete trajectory.

This is a video from the "Algebraic Calculus and the Geometry of dCB curves" Playlist atatlist=PLzdiPTrEWyz5HWgaVkhIwpGVKi6fciRxW at the channel Wild Egg Maths.

This is one of several Explore Research Level Maths Playlists, which are designed for motivated amateur, or professional, mathematicians wanting to delve into pure maths research without the abstraction and complexity that currently besets much of the subject. We will aim to always connect our abstract musings to computational reality by focusing on examples and explicit, concrete calculations --- naturally without any pretense of being "able to do an infinite number of things"!

To access more Explore Research Level Mathematics, please join Norman's Wild Egg Maths channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCriFv3G22iOUidUhkIGXuhw, or become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/njwildberger . There are already dozens of videos there, and many more will appear over the next months and years. One additional advantage: you get to access pdf summaries of some of the videos along with GeoGebra worksheets.
