Eruption and Lava Emission -Pacaya Volcano Guatemala 2020

Guatemalan authorities are monitoring an increase in eruption activity and lava flow from the Pacaya volcano, located 20 km south of the capital. According to the National Disaster Management Coordination Center, the volcano has a lava flow northeastward for about 200 meters. A lava flow was recorded in one of the Pacaya craters at an altitude of 2552 meters above sea level. New lava flows can be expected to appear in the next few hours or days. In addition, seismic stations register constant tremors due to the rise of magma and gases to the surface.
In addition to Pacaya, Guatemala also has volcanoes Fuego (southwest) and Santiagito (west).
