Building a Bridge Start to Finish for Heavy Equipment and Dump Trucks
Today we'll be taking on what seemed to be an almost impossible job when we first looked at it. We will be building a bridge that heavy equipment and dump trucks can safely cross over. This was a much more cost efficient way of doing it than trying to put something up that was suspended. I did months of research and spoke to many different people on the best ways to tackle such a thing. I simply needed to be able to have access to the other side of our property without breaking the bank doing it. I did this by myself in about 12 hours total, not including the clearing of trees leading up to the ditch. The concrete bags were used to route the water into the pipes. I used dual wall spiral pipe just as I did on our main entrance. I have had 70,000 lb loaded dump trucks cross over that one many times with less than a third of the rock on top of it. There are only a couple things left to do as mentioned in the video. One being concrete bags placed on the end of the flow to prevent any type of washout. We'll get to test this the day after installation, as a large storm is headed our way!
