1. LCA-AF Mk2 might ditch Internal Gun for a Podded Gun
It was revealed at Aero India 2019, that LCA-AF Mk2 will sport a 30mm cannon near its left shoulder-mounted position, freeing up space below the right intake where the twin-barrel 23 mm autocannon is situated in the Tejas Mk1/1A jets, but news coming from Aero India 2021 indicates that in ongoing weapons configuration package, ADA-IAF is actively considering ditching its Internal 30mm GSh-30-1 cannon for a belly-mounted Podded Gun system.

The weapons configuration package for LCA-AF Mk2 is still an ongoing decision process and we will have to wait for official word on why designers are moving from Internal Gun for a Podded Gun or they will stick with original plans of equipping LCA-AF Mk2 with an internal gun. LCA-AF Mk2 will be equipped with a single-barreled Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 cannon, which fires a 30X165mm cartridge (150 rounds) and is equipped on SU-30MKI and Mig-29UPG.

2.Rafale induction ceremony cost exchequer over Rs 41 lakh: Rajnath Singh
The induction ceremony of the first five Rafale jets at the Ambala Air Force base on September 10 last cost the exchequer a little over of ?41 lakh including ?9.18 lakh GST, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

“The first five Rafale aircraft of IAF were formally inducted into IAF on September 10. The arrangements for this event were made mostly through local resources of IAF. The total expenditure on the event was ?41.32 lakh including ?9.18 lakh of GST,” he said.

3.All Rafale jets to be inducted into IAF by April 2022: Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday told the Rajya Sabha that all sanctioned Rafale fighter jets will be inducted into the Indian Air Force by April 2022. By March this year, seven Rafales will be inducted. The IAF till date has 11 of the ace fighter planes.

Three Rafale combat aircraft landed in India on January 27 night after flying non-stop from France, an Indian Air Force official said. The three jets added to the then fleet of eight Rafale aircraft.

It was the third batch of Rafale aircraft that landed after flying over 7,000 km from the Istres air base in France and used in-flight refuelling.
