The first indoor market in the Netherlands will open its doors in Rotterdam in October 2014
Stockholm, Barcelona, Valencia, Copenhagen. Almost every large city has one: an indoor food market. A lively market hall which is bursting at the seams with fresh fish, warm bread, tender meat, countless different cheeses and freshly harvested vegetables.A market where shopping is an experience and where you can go to enjoy a drink or grab a bite to eat.
A spectacular horse shoe-shaped arch will rise from the Binnenrotte just a five minute walk from the Koopgoot, in the up-and-coming Laurens district.
Looking, tasting, eating, cooking, buying and selling: it is all going to happen under the arch with both local producers and well-known names (Le Perron Bakery has already reserved a spot).
100 fresh produce units, 15 food shops, 8 restaurants, 228 apartments and 1,200 parking places in 1 market hall.
Imagine: an indoor food market, the size of a massive football pitch; with, in the heart of the market floor, more than 100 fresh produce units from all the food branches, and supplemented with flowers and plants. In the flanks of the arch, also on the 1st floor, food shops and restaurants and even a cookery school.
Above the floor, there are 10 storeys with more than 200 apartments; under the floor, there is a supermarket, a closed-off logistical heart for entrepreneurs, and underneath that some 1,200 parking places. A unique place for shopping, working, going out and living in.
