"Olimpiyskiy" Sports Complex, situated in the center of russian capital, was selected as venue of the race. The participants start and finish inside the Sports Complex with the capacity of 20,000 spectators, the shooting range is located inside, too, but the considerable part of the track passes outside the arena -- the two-level biathlon track, which looks like a road interchange will be located on the surrounding area of the Sports Complex "Olimpiyskiy".

The date of the race, April 10, was selected in respect of the convenience of the world's biathlon elite and the wishes of the organizers. IBU schedule is so concentrated, that it's very difficult to find some free time for any additional competitions. That's why RBU in association with the International Biathlon Union have found the ideal date - april, the time to end the season and to resume it. Besides, the race is confined to the 50th anniversary of the first man in space, and in succession to Yuri Gagarin the first biathlon show race in Moscow can make it into history.

The format of the race on Moscow is pretty difficult, but way more spectacular for the fans than any classic form of biathlon. At the beginning every athlete makes 15 shoots, the starting list of the Mass start will be formed according to the results. The athletes will pass 6 shooting lanes, get over 7 laps of 1.2 km distance, the cartridge number is limited (6). The distance of the penalty lap, which the athletes should make after every miss is 30 meters. This kind of penalty won't be an obstacle for the athletes who skies fast but misses shoots on the lane, and as consequence it will make the event more spectacular and competitive.

Right after it in "Olimpiyskiy" a unique race will be held -- it's the team super sprint. Ten teams formed both from men and women after the random draw will take 9 laps of the 1.2 km long distance shooting 8 times from the lane. The penalty lap is 30 meters long.

In general, the spectators in "Olimpiyskiy" will see on April 10 at least 4 races. Besides the Mass Start, where world biathlon stars will participate, there will be organized several special races -- for children, with air rifles, and also the "Race of show business stars".
