I went to Nusa Ceningan / Lembongan for my birthday...and regretted it

The last frontier of my Bali experience: the Nusa Islands that comprise Bali Provence. I had only ever heard great things from everyone about these islands so when my birthday was coming up, I decided to make it my destination for a weekend getaway.

Unfortunately, the reality did not live up to the hope/hype. In addition to what I talk about in the video, there was also poor WiFi (which may or may not be a big deal to some people) at the resort, a non-functioning TV in our room, and a general ghost-town feel to the whole thing.

I ended up cutting my two night trip short to one night only and returning happily to my home in Bali where I could sleep well in my comfortable bed without overpaying for everything.

As I said in the video, I'm not a diver/surfer/etc. so the main attractions of the Nusa Islands did not appeal to me. I was mostly looking for a relaxing place to just "get away" while seeing something beautiful. For the cost and difficulty of getting there, there are other places in Bali that I vastly prefer: most of all Pemuteran. However if I am going to get on a boat to go somewhere, Gili Air is always my island of choice in Indonesia.

Nonetheless, I'm glad to have had the experience to know it wasn't for me. It might be for you if you're looking to take those famous Instagram photos for your feed or are really into diving/snorkeling. Hopefully post-pandemic the island will be able to rebound and have more to offer than it did during my short visit.
