A #remix I #wrote and #arranged for my project @the_blazing_eraz to perform live. This rendition of the @nas #classic #nystateofmind is in celebration of his tour with @wutangclan … I started off with a @pharrell / @nerd #typebeat with the #dropitlikeitshot @snoopdogg kick sample, that to me, is like a #hook in its own right. I then added #acousticpiano that’s got a parlour vibe in our studio, a @nativeinstruments #clave ala @steviewonderlegacy or @chakakhan #tellmesomethinggood with some distortion & wah to give it bite. Then the beds with my @yamahadrumsofficial #maplecustom with vintage 1974 / 15” @ludwigdrumshq & @paistecymbals #hihats (they have BOTH stamps?! How is this possible?!) and my @fender #pbass ala @pino_palladino_official_ through my @sonic.farm.audio #tantra (best bass rig EVER). The siren samples on the OG track I used @hankbuddguitars custom through my #vintechaudio @rupert_neve as well as that dissonant piano part. I then wrote the B section of the tune and added the classic @officialjdilla #sample from @thesylvers pitched around to fit the chord changes.
