Anticipating CSICon 2023:A Video Interview with Bill Nye

For this episode, my guest was a certain well-known Science Guy: none other than Bill Nye, who will be presented with the annual Richard Dawkins Award, and then participate in an unscripted conversation with Dawkins.

In our wide-ranging conversation, we discussed Nye’s thoughts on being the newest recipient of the Richard Dawkins Award (putting him in the company of the likes of James Randi, Christopher Hitchens, and Neil deGrasse Tyson), what set him on the mechanical engineering career path, the major projects of The Planetary Society he now oversees, and his one-time wish to be a NASA astronaut. Nye also discussed his prognosis for discovering extraterrestrial life, the recent staggering UFO claims, and the possibility of the simulation hypothesis being true. (Could we be living in the Matrix?) Of course, I also had to ask him about his historic 2014 debate with Ken Ham and, most importantly, “Why the bow tie?” on behalf of a follower of my Facebook page.
