Oh Death. By The Drone Rangers

Wolly “Banjo Killer” Wainwright had convinced Pete “Drone Master” and “Phantom” Jimmy that a true, transcendent drone required an ancient, natural resonance—a sound only a proper banjo could provide, played just so, alongside the spirits and ghouls. So they sit in a circle, in the graveyard, and Wolly begins to play, a hypnotic clawhammer style that melts into their electric drone....

But the song, Pete and Jimmy slowly realise, is a trick. It's a ballad played for the dead, and they will soon be joining them. As Wolly’s fingers blur, they begin to feel a paralysing dread, a knowledge that the real spirit they summoned was the killer inside Wolly, drawn out by the very music they created. The banjo is both the musical and the murder weapon, its hardened wooden neck soon to be used for a far more brutal purpose than strumming……
