Growing Winter Tomatoes And Peppers In Cooler Southern Climates

I am planting a number of varieties of tomatoes, plus a couple jalapeno peppers, both in-ground and in containers to see if I can keep them alive and successfully fruit them over the winter in coastal southeast North Carolina. Our winters may not be as harsh as most of the US, but we still get about 30-40 freezing nights a year.
