Hacking my way into Large Format Photography - rescued 100 year old lens + modern monorail camera!

Ok so I've been wanting to try out large format photography for a while, but there was no way I was forking out hundreds just to try it. I think I got pretty luck with my lens find, and then I got a bit lucky again with my monorail camera find on eBay... sure none of it is perfect, but I figured I could make it work, with a bit of effort from me!

So I built a lens board, mounted the lens that I had taken out of a 1924 Ica Ideal 225, 9x12 plate camera, and started shooting.

Lens came from the amazing guys at Camera Rescue in Finland - www.camerarescue.org

Toyo-View 45C monorail camera was from a guy on eBay. And I bought the dark slides / sheet film holders from Intrepid, because they sell the Toyo double dark slides in two-packs for only a little more than other places are selling singles!

Total outlay for this set up - about £175. Lens was c. £20, monorail camera was £90, two double dark slides £65.

Does it work? Take a look!
