Live from Downing Street where Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is expected to arrive for her bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Sir Keir Starmer has told European leaders they must step up at a "once in a generation moment", as efforts continue to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. European leaders including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have arrived for crunch talks in central London on the war in Ukraine.
The prime minister delivered the message to fellow leaders at a summit he is hosting at Lancaster House in London, close to Buckingham Palace. The aim of the gathering is to try and come up with a common position on ending the three-year conflict sparked by Russia’s invasion. Starmer is expected to urge the 18 leaders in attendance to follow the UK in boosting defence spending. The PM also wants Europe to play a role in peacekeeping efforts if a deal is struck to stop the conflict.

The Ukrainian President’s plane was seen arriving at Stansted Airport this morning after a clash with Donald Trump at the White House last night.
Ahead of his arrival, Mr Zelensky publicly thanked Donald Trump for America’s support after their meeting in the Oval Office descended into a shouting match, abruptly halting peace talks between the two leaders.
He posted on X, formerly Twitter: “I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.”
He added: “America’s help has been vital in helping us survive, and I want to acknowledge that. Despite the tough dialogue, we remain strategic partners.”
