Toyota Avalon V6 2GR-FE Water Pump Replacement

This video will show you step-by-step how to replace the water pump on a '06 Toyota Avalon with the V6 GR-FE engine. The pump's bearing along with the idler pulleys were replaced due to noise. The GR-FE V6 engine replaced the older MZ-FE engines used in the Avalon, RAV4, Sienna and Lexus ES and RX line up. If your Toyota or Lexus has the GR-FE engine, the water pump replacement procedure is pretty much the same as the Camry. This is around a $700 job at the dealership. An Aisin OEM pump will run around $100, Toyota Coolant around $20 and estimate 3.5 hours of labor. I used a Gates water pump since it has a lifetime limited warranty vs the Aisin which is one year. So far the Gates WP has worked well on other GR-FE engines where I had replaced the pump. I took a chance on a Autozone pump and it didn't lest even a week.

Note: (Video Time Marks 10:03 - 10:16) After installation of the side engine mount bracket that covers the thermostat housing assembly, lower the engine on to the lower engine mount stud before installing the (Video Time Mark 10:32) Torque Rod/Engine Mount (aka Dog Bone) @ Video Time Mark 10:21.
