Thailand and Indonesia Elevate Bilateral Relations to Strategic Partnership

Southeast Asian countries Thailand and Indonesia have announced the elevation of their bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

High-Level Meeting in Bangkok
During his official visit to Bangkok, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. This marks the first official visit by an Indonesian president to Thailand in 20 years, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The leaders agreed to strengthen ties in economy, defense, and security, including cooperation on maritime security, counter-terrorism, and cybersecurity.
President Subianto emphasized the importance of defense partnerships and highlighted the need for inclusive national dialogue in Myanmar, stressing the centrality of ASEAN in regional stability.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn noted that the two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and food security.
