NASA astronaut spends a year in space

A NASA astronaut, Frank Rubio, has achieved a historic milestone by spending a full year in space.

Initially, Mr Rubio was scheduled to return home six months earlier.

However, complications arose when his spacecraft was struck by a small object in space, which punctured the radiator and released coolant into the vastness of space.

This event prolonged Mr Rubio's time in orbit, which was particularly significant since it was his inaugural spaceflight.

Mr Rubio had made history as the first Salvadoran American to journey to space, but this incident meant a prolonged separation from his wife and four children.
