It might seem helpful to warn your dog when another dog is approaching, but it can actually do more harm than good. Giving a heads-up draws attention to the trigger and can unintentionally create anticipation or anxiety—sometimes even being the very thing that sparks a reaction. The goal is neutrality: other dogs should feel as unimportant as bikes or joggers passing by.
