Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Sunday in Tianjin where they underscored the deepening bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Pakistani people and government for Azerbaijan’s political support and solidarity during India’s military aggression against Pakistan. He spoke highly of Baku’s unwavering stance at a time of heightened regional tensions. President Aliyev also reaffirmed the brotherly ties between the two nations, and congratulated Pakistan on its victory over India. He noted that India had attempted to retaliate against Azerbaijan in international organizations due to its support for Pakistan. Sharif recalled his visits to Azerbaijan and highlighted the importance of the trilateral cooperation framework involving Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan, especially in the recent meeting held in Lachin. Aliyev confirmed that steps are already being taken to implement the decisions from that dialogue. The Pakistani leader also congratulated Aliyev on progress in normalizing relations with Armenia, describing it as a historic milestone for peace in the South Caucasus.
