Californian professor slammed for ‘ignorance’ about origin of police

Sky News host Rita Panahi has criticised the “ignorance” and “idiocy” of a professor in California who suggested the reason for police departments is because people in the south wanted to “capture runaway slaves”.

Ms Panahi said a “poor kid” put forward “rational thoughts” that not all police are bad – that “a lot of them put their lives on the line to help the community and to come to your rescue at times of peril” – but the Cypress College professor was “having none of it”.
