Trump’s Announcement Re: Psychedelic Medicine - Exciting . . . And Let’s Pause For A Minute.

I am a massive proponent of the ethical use of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and plant medicines for healing trauma — but it must be done intentionally, ethically, and with trained professionals who are equipped to support the preparation, the actual experience, and the integration that follows. These substances are powerful. They are sacred. And they are not a standalone treatment.
Now here’s where I want us to pause and think critically. 🧵
We are living in a moment where we’re watching massive cuts to Medicaid, anti-vaccine and anti-research rhetoric coming out of RFK Jr.’s Health and Human Services, and a federal government that is attempting to access federal employee medical records.
And yet — at the same time — the Trump administration is pushing to fast-track FDA approval for these very same psychedelic medicines.
So I ask you: what might actually be happening behind the scenes here?
We can hold cautious optimism — because yes, these medicines have profound healing potential and deserve serious research. But we also have a responsibility to discern. To ask who benefits. To ask who has access. To ask who controls the narrative and the data.
Healing is sacred. And sacred things deserve our full discernment — not just our excitement.
