On this week’s Scout Report, we make our suggestions on how to fix Real Madrid!

Since their last Champions League triumph in 2018, Real Madrid have won just a single piece of major silverware – last season’s La Liga – while this year marks the first time in three years they’ve made it past the UCL last-16. Los Blancos are a side in transition, and that transition doesn’t look much closer to being complete than it did in 2019.

While Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé have both been linked with big moves to the Bernabeu, it’s not certain if the club actually has the means to buy them, and so we’ve come up with a list of alternative attackers, including Memphis Depay, Mikel Oyarzabal and Alexander Isak!

We also take a look at defensive midfield, where Casemiro has had zero cover for a number of seasons. Edouardo Camavinga remains the club’s top target, but Manuel Locatelli could be an excellent alternative, and may even represent a better investment right now.

Poor signings have made progress slow on the field in the last two years, the covid crisis and new stadium debt have meant spending has been limited since 2019, and a presidential election in the summer means Florentino Perez could be challenged for the first time since he re-entered office in 2009. With all this in mind, let’s take a look at what steps Los Blancos can take to get back to the very top.
