The 2012 Broadway Bomb: Wheelbase Edition.

On Saturday, October 20, at noon, skateboarders from all over the globe and numbering close to 2,000 individuals converged upon the world renowned Broadway Blvd in the heart of Manhattan. A handful of these shredders come every year in order to race for cash down the eight mile stretch of road between 116th and "The Bull", but the vast majority of skaters participating in this annual event ride with one unified purpose: to promote awareness of the growing commuter culture within skateboarding, as well as to show their love for the epicness that is riding skateboards in New York City.

As many of you have already heard, The Powers That Be caught-wind of this year's Broadway Bomb and tried to shut it down. They wielded court orders, a huge show of force via the NY Police Department, injunctions, cohered mass emails, and various other media propaganda. A handful of skaters fell for these fear-tactics and sadly did no participate, but many, many more of us rode onward, undaunted, and good times ensued all the way down the Broadway and beyond. What a day!

Needless to say, we had an unforgettable time at this year's Broadway Bomb and we ask that you please take a couple minutes to enjoy this video reflecting our experience at this year's event. Thank you for loving skateboarding—long, short, and everything in between. Meow!!

Filmed by: Seth Brown & Marcus Bandy
