Leading from the margins | Mary Dana Hinton | TEDxStCloud

Having grown up in an environment that explicitly denied her the opportunities afforded those in the center, Mary Dana Hinton defiantly created a model of leadership from the margins. She invites us all to choose to dwell, and lead, in marginal spaces. Mary Dana Hinton became the fifteenth president of the College of Saint Benedict in 2014. Dr. Hinton's scholarship focuses on African American religious history, higher education leadership, the role of education in peace building, and inclusion in higher education. She is the author of "The Commercial Church: Black Churches and the New Religious Marketplace in America." Hinton is "enthralled by the emerging neuroscience research about brain development in late adolescence and young adulthood."
