BFO Alignment of Easy BITX 40m Using Arduino Serial Monitor

In an SSB (Single Sideband) transceiver like the Easy BITX, the Beat Frequency Oscillator (BFO) is one of the most critical components for ensuring clear voice communication and proper signal rejection. Alignment is for positioning the BFO precisely relative to the crystal filter. Since SSB signals do not transmit a carrier, your receiver must "re-insert" a local carrier to turn the incoming RF back into audible speech. If the BFO frequency is even slightly off (by as little as 50–100 Hz), the voice will sound unnaturally high-pitched or "bass-heavy," often described as the "Donald Duck" effect. Proper alignment ensures that the reconstructed audio matches the original pitch of the speaker.
