My Calculus 3 students wait all semester for “surface integral cake day” 🍰😭

When we get to surface integrals and flux in multivariable calculus, I bring in a cylinder cake so we can actually visualize what’s happening when a plane cuts through the surface.

Because once you get into vector calculus, it can get really overwhelming for students if they can’t actually picture what’s going on.

I’ve always believed math makes way more sense when students can see it and interact with it instead of just staring at equations on a page.

So yes… we learn calculus with cake in this class 😂
