Most out-of-work Oregonians who received unemployment benefits this week will have a welcome experience next week.

Those receiving ordinary unemployment will receive an extra $300 and the 72,000 self-employed workers whose special pandemic benefits workers whose special PUA benefits will see them continue for 11 weeks.

David Gerstenfeld, Oregon Employment Department acting director, “shared that Oregon will take part in an optional program to provide enhanced benefits to workers with a “mixed” employment record of both self-employment income and income from an outside employer.”

Those workers, who are now eligible only for regular employment, will be entitled to an extra $100 a week for 11 weeks on top of the additional $300.

But he said, “that the program will require complex programming changes and the federal government has yet to provide guidance on how such workers will be able to prove their self-employment income.”

The agency stated they will put out the information on social media, via emails, on its website, and via news outlets.

This is a fantastic opportunity for residents in Oregon and hope they get more guidance soon so more individuals can get help.

With the signing of the stimulus bill, state unemployment offices are now waiting for federal guidance to determine how to administer new benefits to residents.

For residents in Colorado on January 10th, the new labor department computer system goes live.

The state is waiting on further federal guidance to reprogram its computers to make the new payments.

Colorado was in the process of installing a new system when the pandemic hit in March.

The new system will be available for everyone and offer weekly payments, add more self-service features, and hopefully transition quickly to the new federal payments.

This is great news to head into the new year and hope that this new system is more proactive in getting claims filed.

Officials with the California Employment Development Department says they will be expediting unemployment payments to millions of citizens.

That means some people could start seeing a $300 supplemental payment as early as Sunday,
January 3rd.

“According to a press release from EDD, those who had their CARES Act benefits expire on Dec. 26th will soon be notified through their UI online account, through the mail, or by a text message, when they will be able to certify their next payment.”

Federal Unemployment benefits have been extended through March 13th.

Instead of dropping down to a maximum of 13 weeks, the continued federal funding allows the FED-ED to continue providing up to 20 weeks of benefits when claimants run out of PEUC benefits.

This is fantastic news for California resident as we know has been hit hard with fraud these last few months.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, start the new year on the right foot and apply today!

Check out your state’s PUA or UI website, show them your identification and employment history, and let them know that you’ve been out of work due to that thing out there,

For honestly and truthfully answering their questions, you could receive a backdated unemployment check for up to $20,000!

To all of the gig-workers, self-employed, independent contractors, 1099 workers, even side hustlers, volunteers, and freelancers, the government didn’t forget about you and also extended the PUA

Don’t miss out on your chance to receive these amazing government unemployment benefits, as they won’t be around for long.
